Iran films to screen in Sweden Göteborg Film festival

Iranian cinematic productions have been selected to screen at the 41st edition of the Göteborg Film Festival in Sweden.

The annual Swedish event’s Master section will honor the late Iranian auteur Abbas Kiarostami by screening his last work ‘24 Frames’.

In the International Competition section, ‘Israfil’ by Ida Panahandeh will be vying with 19 other feature films for the Golden Dragon Award.

‘Israfil’ narrates the story of the widowed Mahi, who loses her only son. An old acquaintance appears at the funeral, with emotional entanglements which have to make decisions not only about their emotions, but also their future lives.

‘Invincible Diplomacy of Mr. Naderi’ is another Iranian production on the fest roster details the life of an entrepreneur who weaves a large double-sided Persian carpet to bring about peace in the world.

Considered as the largest film festival in all of Scandinavia, the Göteborg Film Festival is held from January 26 to February 5 in the city of Gothenburg.

Launched in 1979, the film festival screens around 450 films from 60 countries.

The 41st edition of the Göteborg Film Festival will run from January 26-February 5.
